How good is this movie?
The final Avengers movie is crazy – and I mean that in a mostly good way! The ultimate fight to save the world takes the characters to locations exotic and familiar, and puts them in situations that are often strange, sometimes funny, and frequently nostalgic. It also makes time for some slower, quieter character moments. With much of the supporting cast dead, we finally have time to focus on our heroes, and to see them working as a team again. Over all, it’s not just a fitting sequel to Avengers 3, but a fitting culmination to an 11-year saga.
How ace is this movie?
In my review of Infinity War, I complained that we didn’t see enough of the relationships between the characters. End Game makes up for it. The film discards the franchise’s more half-hearted romantic sub-plots but takes time to acknowledge the ongoing importance of Tony’s relationship with Pepper and Steve’s relationship with Peggy. However, familial bonds (biological and otherwise) are also emphasised, as are the friendships between the heroes. And one of the film’s most touching scenes involves best friends Clint and Natasha. Would someone please get these two their own movie!
